Od genes and she never has to see him again If she just so happens to get what she’s always wanted out of spending the night with him he’ll never have to know But soon after Delaney discovers she’s pregnant a newcomer moves onto the ranch just outside of Dundee And wouldn’t you know it just so happens to be Conner. Usually when I read a romance novel I start with Romance novels aren t my thing so even though I didn t like this take my review with a grain of salt This time I m gonna start by saying even though romance novels aren t my thing this book was dang entertaining and I kind of loved itThe protagonist Delaney has a one night stand with a stranger to get pregnant She thinks she ll never see him again and he ll never know but things don t go uite as plannedDon t get me wrong this is no upcoming classic and contained the typical romance staples melodrama controlling male love interest protagonist makes some stupid decisions But unlike many romances that come across as it was written that way because that s how everyone writes romance I feel like this author takes these cliches and utilizes them in a creative way Sometimes it works sometimes it makes you raise your eyebrows but still I was kept waiting to find out what happened next Oh and you know the protagonist s crazy best friend who only exists to push the character into doing things they wouldn t normally do In this book she has an actual personality and is probably the best character in the bookWould definitely recommend this for anyone who wants a fun light read

A Baby of Her Own

New York Times bestselling author Brenda Novak’s beloved Dundee series begins with a one night stand that becomes so much in this irresistible romance originally published as A Baby of Her Own  in 2002At thirty Delaney is no longer interested in playing the role of “good girl” After all what has it gotten her this. Fairly decent read A lot of people aren t going to like it because the heroine starts out hoping to get pregnant by a one night stand not meaning to ever tell the father because she can t afford to go to a sperm bank I didn t really have a problem with it because I understand the whole baby hunger thing and we do after all need something to hang our story on I just wish that there had been to them falling in love It was sort of underwhelming The hero held on to his anger too long and the heroine was just suddenly in love Still it was uick and readable

Far in life The one thing she wants most of all to become a mother still seems far out of reach When she and her best friend go to Boise for a night out the handsome stranger Delaney meets seems too good to be true Conner is attractive and she can’t help but notice his other ualities too he’s healthy seems to have go. I liked this book Delaney is a 30 year old spinster who always tries to do the right thing and be the good girl as she doesn t want to disappoint the couple that took her in and the town that helped raise her She was left alone in Dundee at a very young age when her unwed mother died Her mother had been considered a woman of loose morals The one thing Delaney wanted most in life was a family to call her own She always felt like an outsider and someone that everyone was looking at critically in case she turned out to be just like her mother She felt the sting of never being legally adopted by the couple that took her in even though they did give her their last name On her 30th birthday Delaney bemoans the fact that she has no steady boyfriend no wedding in her near future and therefore no chance to have a baby of her own to her best friend and roommate Rebecca Rebecca has been labeled as the town s wild one No one can seem to understand how these two girls that seem like complete opposites could be such good friends The thing is no one really knows the real Rebecca So Rebecca comes up with an idea to get Delaney to have a one night stand with a complete stranger outside of their own small Idaho town Delaney desperately wants to take charge of her life and sees this as a way to get the one thing she really wantsConner Armstrong has always been the odd man out in his own home and is constantly reminded by his Uncles that he s only there because of his grandfather and his mother their adopted sister He has been the black sheep of the family In an effort to get him out of their grandfather s good graces the Uncles hatch a plan to have Conner attempt to save his grandfather s first farm before it loses any money and in the meanwhile do whatever they can to be sure he doesn t succeed On his way to the farm from California he flies into Boise Idaho He is staying in a local hotel He decides to unwind a little in the hotel bar when two women walk in Rebecca and Delaney have gone to Boise to see if they can find the man to help out as a sperm donor They figured it was their best shot at an uncomplicated solution to Delaney s wish for a baby where they were unlikely to ever see the father again Little do they know when they set their sights on Conner that he is moving to the farm just outside of DundeeAs I said I enjoyed this story even though in our present day I find it highly unlikely that two women would actually do something like this It seems a bit too risky and dangerous

I shouldn’t have read this book the blurb itself was giving me a warningWe always rant on how disgusting the male protagonist was But see female protagonist can follow this trait too The heroine Delaney lives in Dundee she was 30years old portrait as an innocent honest kind hearted one But what she did was cun

Usually sweet small town romance leaves me cold But the writing here is pretty darned good So although the town felt fake the people felt real Loved the best friendAnd let's face it I'm a sucker for secret baby novels Poor Delancey The hero is really hard on her for much of this book Some readers probably had a hard time with that

This Kindle freebie was okay even good in parts but had such an absurd start that I never took the rest of the book seriously The reader is to believe that the small town good girl decides that since she's 31 and wants a baby it would cause less scandal to go get pregnant by a stranger than use donor sperm Really? Some parts of the book are well done but I never connected with either lead and the abrupt ending didn't help
