    I am not a fan of the magical realism genre which this novel seems to resemble so I really struggled to engage with the storyline However the writing is excellently atmospheric imbuing the novel with that pervasive sense of other worldliness to be found in dreams or is this a nightmare Either way it is a very intriguing first novel
